Multidisciplinary festival
1st edition - 2021

Prima Onda is a festival, situated and deeply rooted in a beloved territory, the southeastern coastline of Palermo, very close to the Kalsa neighborhood, where all the different faces of Palermo meet and coexist, yet are very different.
A situated and visionary festival, with its roots firmly planted in this salty land but with its eyes wide open to the national and international cultural scene, with the desire to keep alive a city’s cultural history that has been nourished in the past by crossings, residencies, and visions of theater, music and dance artists who have created and lived here.
Prima Onda is a movement.
Organized by Meeraqui
Meeraqui's first event in 2023 was born in partnership with the Mare Memoria Viva association in a place with enormous historical and social value for the entire city of Palermo: the Ecomuseo del Mare. The only cultural outpost on the southeast coastline of the Sicilian capital, a place coveted and sought after by Palermo's nobility thanks to its bathing establishments in the early 1900s. It later became a site for real estate speculation between the 1950s and 1970s during the "Sack of Palermo," and has since faced issues of illegal construction and unfinished restoration projects.
